Terms of use
The rules for using Yearworm, in plain English.
Last updated 1 October 2026
1. Who we are
Yearworm is run by Orbisa Consulting Limited, trading as Yearworm, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 09141266), whose registered office is 35a Cologne Road, London, SW11 2AH. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Orbisa Consulting Limited trading as Yearworm, and “you” means the person using Yearworm. You can contact us at support@yearworm.com.
By using Yearworm you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
2. What Yearworm is
Yearworm is a music party game. Each turn opens a song in your own Spotify or Apple Music app, you guess the year it was a UK hit, and the group scores the guesses. Yearworm isn’t a streaming service and doesn’t play or host any music itself: it links to the song in the streaming service you choose, so you need your own Spotify or Apple Music account to hear it (see section 6).
There are two ways to use it:
- Free version: a selection of songs, up to two players, and a daily limit on games and practice songs.
- Full game: every deck, every era, up to eight players and the special editions, for a yearly subscription (section 4).
3. Your account
- You log in with your email address. You must use an address you own and keep it up to date.
- One email works on up to three devices at a time. You can free up a device by logging out on it.
- The full game is for you and the people you play with. Please don’t publish your login or sell or pass it on to the public. We can suspend an account that is being shared widely or misused.
- Playing with friends, family or guests in the same room is exactly what Yearworm is for, and is fine.
4. The full-game subscription
- Price: the price is shown before you pay (at the time of writing, £9.99 a year) and is the total you pay. Payments are taken by Stripe.
- Renewal: it renews automatically every year, for the same period and at the then-current price, until you cancel. We’ll email you about 7 days before each renewal.
- Price changes: if we raise the price, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal. If you don’t want the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect.
- Cancelling: you can cancel at any time. Log in, tap Manage plan and follow the steps. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep the full game until the end of the year you’ve paid for.
- If we stop Yearworm: if we close the full game while you have time left on your subscription, we’ll refund the unused part.
5. Cancelling and refunds
The short version: you can cancel within 14 days of paying and get a full refund, no reason needed. After that, you can still cancel any time to stop the next renewal.
5.1 Your 14-day right to cancel. You have 14 days from the day you subscribe to cancel and get a full refund. You don’t have to give a reason. We also give you the same 14 days after each yearly renewal.
5.2 How to cancel within 14 days. Email support@yearworm.com from the address you used to subscribe, saying you want to cancel and be refunded. You don’t have to use any particular form of words. We’ll refund you to the card or method you paid with within 14 days of hearing from you, and end your full-game access.
5.3 After the 14 days. You can still cancel at any time (see section 4), which stops the next renewal and lets you keep the full game until the end of the year you’ve paid for. We don’t refund the rest of a year once the 14 days have passed, except in the cases below.
5.4 Your other rights. Nothing in this section limits your legal rights. If Yearworm is faulty, isn’t as we described it, or isn’t of satisfactory quality, you may be entitled to a repair, a price reduction or a refund. We also refund the unused part of your subscription in the cases set out in sections 4, 9 and 12.
6. Streaming services, songs and years
Yearworm is not a streaming service. We don’t host, stream or supply any music or audio. We only link to songs on Spotify or Apple Music, and the music itself is provided to you by them, under your own agreement with them.
- Independent of us. Spotify and Apple Music are separate companies. We aren’t connected with, endorsed by or responsible for either of them, and their names and logos belong to them.
- No promises about their service. We don’t promise, and aren’t responsible for, anything about those services: whether they’re available or working, whether a particular song is in their catalogue or in your country, how it sounds, whether it shows adverts or needs a paid plan, or whether their apps, links or QR handling change. You need your own account, and your own device and internet connection, to hear the songs.
- If a song won’t play. A song that fails to open or play because of Spotify, Apple Music, your account, your device or your connection isn’t a fault in Yearworm, and we’re not liable for it. This doesn’t affect your rights in section 5.4 if Yearworm itself doesn’t work as it should.
- Song titles, artists and recordings belong to their owners. Yearworm links to them; it doesn’t grant you any rights in them, and Spotify’s and Apple Music’s own terms apply when you use them.
- The year shown for a song is the year it was a UK chart hit, and the rules for choosing it are in How it works. We take care to get them right, but occasionally a year or a credit may be wrong, and songs may be added, changed or removed from the decks over time.
- The title and artist appear in your streaming app, so the game relies on players guessing honestly before they look.
7. Acceptable use
Please don’t copy, scrape or resell the song decks or the code, try to break into the service or its accounts, or use Yearworm in any unlawful way.
8. Our content
The Yearworm game, name, logo, design, rules and the way the song decks are put together belong to us or our licensors. You may use Yearworm for your own personal, non-commercial play, and that’s all this licence covers.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Yearworm running, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. We may improve, change or retire features. If we make a change that significantly harms what you’ve paid for, you can cancel and we’ll refund the unused part of your subscription.
10. Our responsibility to you
We’re responsible for losses you suffer that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or being careless. We’re not responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, for anything caused by Spotify, Apple Music or another third-party service (section 6), or for losses to a business (Yearworm is for personal use). Subject to that, and to the next sentence, our total liability to you for anything connected with Yearworm is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t lawfully be limited, and nothing affects the legal rights you have as a consumer.
11. Your data
How we use your information is explained in our Privacy policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example if the law or the service changes. We’ll post the new version here with its date, and email subscribers about any change that matters to them. If you don’t accept a change you can cancel, and we’ll refund the unused part of your subscription.
13. General
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live. The courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute.
- If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a term straight away, that doesn’t mean we’ve given it up.
- These terms, together with our privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about Yearworm.
